This course provides an in-depth understanding of the cellular, molecular, and genetic mechanisms regulating animal development. It covers fundamental developmental processes such as gametogenesis, fertilization, cleavage, gastrulation, axis specification, and pattern formation using model organisms including Caenorhabditis elegans, Drosophila, and amphibians. Emphasis is placed on cell fate determination, induction, morphogen gradients, gene regulation, and key signaling pathways such as Wnt, Hedgehog, TGF-β, and BMP. The course also examines metamorphosis, regeneration, developmental disorders, environmental influences on development, and applications in human welfare and developmental biology.
