Aim of the course: This course provides a basic framework for understanding the role and functions of a manager and to explain the principles, concepts, and techniques that can be used in carrying out these functions. Specific topics include planning, decision making, organizing, leading, controlling, and innovating.

Course Overview and Context : In modern business environments of constant change and turbulent external environments, the effective management of the organization is paramount to achieving corporate success. This course introduces the theories, concepts and frameworks of management and how these lead to the effective management of a modern-day organization. Students are introduced to the rich context and approaches of the theory and practice of management and explore the four critical dimensions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling within an organization. The course examines these four dimensions at three levels: the individual, the group and the organizing and applies them to case studies and other real-world contexts.
